Philippine Power Plant Use Circulating Fluidised Bed Technology
With cfb boiler technology development Philippines power plant begin to use circulating fluidised bed boiler technology to generate power.CFB boiler can burn coal or biomass as fuel. But maybe Rice husk biomass CFB boiler in Philippines is more popular.
ZG has signed a contract to deliver equipment for a 135 MW Concepcion Circulating Fluidised Bed (CFB) power plant, which will be constructed in Philippines. The CFB power plant will be constructed for Palm Concepcion Power Corp.
The contract is valued over €15 million and is set to be completed by the end of 2015. ZG will deliver one 135 MW steam turbine, with generator set and auxiliaries, including the water-cooled condenser for the coal-fired power plant.
The plant will be constructed by the NLSC Consortium. The consortium includes First Northeast Electric Power Engineering Corporation of China Energy Group (NEPC), Liaoning Electric Power Survey & Design Institute and Shenyang Electric Power Design Institute.
In a recent report from the IEA Clean Coal Centre, Dr Qian Zhu noted that CFB combustion, as an alternative to pulverised coal combustion (PCC) for power generation, offers several benefits. CFB combustion boilers are flexible, allowing a wide range of fuel quantities and sizes to be burned.
Emissions of SOx and NOx are also significantly reduced, without the addition of expensive flue gas emissions control systems.
Even though the combustion temperature of a CFB boiler is low, the circulation of hot particles provides efficient heat transfer to the furnace walls and allows a longer residence time for combustion and desulfurisation reaction. This results in good combustion efficiencies, comparable to PCC boilers.
Philippine power generation
The power plant will generate power for the Visayas Grid, in response to growing Philippine energy demands. The Visayas Grid currently has a capacity of 1700 MW, representing 12% of the country’s power demand.
ZG boiler group was pleased to supply the steam turbine for the project, noting that the “contract strengthens the position of ZG in Philippines while spread circulating fluidised bed boiler technology in Philippine .”
